Description
Inside this module:
Business processes developed under normal conditions tend to accumulate assumptions that only become visible under pressure. This module covers how to systematically expose those assumptions — mapping existing workflows against realistic stress scenarios and identifying where processes will fail before they do.
You’ll develop:
– Process mapping for fragility: documenting workflows at the level of detail needed to identify hidden dependencies, single points of failure, and steps that rely on individual knowledge rather than documented procedure
– Stress scenario design: constructing realistic pressure cases — volume spikes, staff absence, supplier failure, system outage — and tracing their impact through the process map
– Redesign prioritization: distinguishing between fragility that represents genuine operational risk and inefficiency that is tolerable under most conditions — and sequencing improvement work accordingly
Duration: +/- 6 hours
What changes in practice:
A process improvement approach grounded in operational reality rather than theoretical efficiency — producing workflows that hold under the conditions businesses actually face rather than the conditions process maps assume.
